19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his first trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's first title since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to win a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
